NASA Calling all Tissue Engineers

NASA has launched a contest offering a $500,000 reward to the first three teams to achieve construction and maintenance of 1cm thick vascularized tissue. -Press Release from NASA June 13, 2016
Once again, the subject of 3D cell culture and tissue engineering has come to the mainstream with the announcement of a new NASA research initiative, to further understanding of how cells organize in 3D and function as whole tissues. In addition to creating these biomimetic tissues and maintaining them in culture, research teams have been asked to consider the effects of spaceflight, specifically microgravity and radiation, on these 3D tissue constructs.
