Research Spotlight - Platelet Generation

January 22, 2016

A recent study by Yang et al. of State Key Laboratory of Experimental Hematology, China, demonstrated that the RCCS is instrumental in increasing platelet generation via driving megakaryopoiesis in hematopoietic stem cells. The research team noted that "RCCS improved platelet generation efficiency by as much as ?3.7-fold compared with static conditions." The authors predict that the dramatic increase in platelet generation using the dynamic and low-shear conditions of the RCCS will provide therapeutic benefit in the clinical setting.
